The story
From Leonardi's gnocchi to the ragù of Imola
In 1790 Francesco Leonardi describes gnocchi of flour, butter and water in Rome in his “Apicio moderno”. At the end of the 18th century Alberto Alvisi, cook to Cardinal Chiaramonti in Imola, records a “ragù” for macaroni – the oldest known ragù recipe for pasta. In 1891 Pellegrino Artusi prints potato gnocchi in Florence. When gnocchi were first served with ragù is not documented.

How do I prepare the gnocchi al ragù?
Heat the tray sealed and frozen in the microwave. Power and time are printed on the lid. Every microwave works a little differently: check that everything is hot and stir well before serving.
Do I need to thaw the gnocchi before heating?
No. The gnocchi go straight from the freezer into the microwave. At −18 °C they keep for 15 months.
Which allergens do the gnocchi al ragù contain?
They contain gluten (wheat), milk (butter) and celery and may contain traces of soy, mustard and egg. The ragù is made with beef, so the dish is not vegetarian.
How many trays are in a carton and are pallets available?
One carton holds 6 trays of 300 g. A full pallet of 144 cartons is available to pre-order.
