From Gaeta and Bursa to the kebab pizza
In 997 the word “pizza” first appears in Gaeta; around 1858 Emmanuele Rocco describes the pizzas of Naples. According to tradition, in 1867 İskender Efendi in Bursa first grills meat on a vertical spit. The oldest surviving menu with a kebab pizza dates from 1986 in Bromma near Stockholm; who invented it is unknown.
